Meet Adora

I am adopting a new puppy today!! We're going to call her Adora. She's originally from Ohio and was brought in by an awesome rescue group called Pawsafe. She's part Australian Shepherd and part Lab.

Here's her photo:

Tell me she's not the cutest thing EVER. We're picking her up tonight so expect more pics soon!!

I love Australian Shepards and Labs... great compbo! I come from cattle/sheep country so that breed was rampant. Had several myself growing up. Enjoy your new addition!

Oh she's adorable!!! I understand puppy love :) Oscar, my Shih Tzu/Lhasa Apso will be four next month and I still gush over his cuteness on a daily basis :)

What a sweetie, Marianne! I'd take her home, too.

Just a word of warning...that herding mentality is inbred in all those dogs. Maybe the Lab will mellow it out, but maybe not. I have a border collie/aus. shephard mix (doubly whammy herder), and she herds EVERYTHING! If it moves, she herds it, and this includes cars! Be very, very careful. They can't resist. Heck, my dog even herds non-moving things. If she comes in the house after being outside, she has to run from room to room, to make sure she knows where every single one of us are before she can relax. And if any of us moves, she will wake from a dead sleep to follow us to wherever we're going, before she can relax again. It's crazy!!

Just wanted to warn you about the car thing. Also applies to motorcycles, ATVs, etc. :-)

Oh my God, she is SO CUTE! I just feel like giving her a kiss. I love her, what a fantastic addition to your puppy family!!

My very first dog was a border collie and yes, the herding was completely inherent to her, but she was the best dog ever.

Adora is Adora-ble! Sooooo precious! Can't wait to meet her.

Thanks guys! Turns out I can't pick her up til Saturday. Soo hard to wait! :) But she's worth it. And yes, I understand the herding tendancies - a good friend has a border collie who's about a year old. :)

Marianne,

she is the sweetest thing ever. You are so lucky! I love dogs. I'm actually thinking of getting one, once I get my apartment all straigtened out.

I literally have almost the exact same puppy, down to color and breed. Clapton is about 6 months old and now a rambunctious 40 lbs. I adopted him from the humane society in Indianapolis and he is fabulous. Potty training was maybe a 2 day adventure and no accidents after that. By the time he was 10 wks he could sit, come and lay down. He now gets the newspaper in the morning and "helps" with chores around the house such as carrying papers to the trash and taking laundry downstairs. I highly recommend giving your pup a "job" around the house. They are extremely intelligent dogs and their energy and active brains need a lot to do. Have so much fun and take lots of pictures!
