Oh how I loved Little House on the Prairie

Monday nights. Eight pm. Gathered in front of the television with my mom and dad. And this theme would start to play. It still gives me chills today.

My kindergarten teacher used to call me Mary Ingells cause I was blonde and, well, my name was Marianne. But Mary was so stuck up and boring. I was definitely a Laura all the way! :)

I'm so buying the DVDs one of these days and watching them all over again from start to finish.

Oh, Marianne, I'm right there with you on this one! I swear it doesn't matter how old I get. As soon as I hear that theme music I'm transported back in my memories to when I was a kid and would tune in every week to LHOTP. :-) Even to this day, it seems like whenever I take a sick day or have a holiday from work and am at home, there's always at least one episode on tv on some obscure cable channel. Love the nostalgia trip!

I used to watch it at the same time - right after Brownies, we'd run home and watch the show - only time mom & dad let us stay up late to watch TV.

I loved that show. Loved the books. Wanted to be Laura. Didn't like the last couple of years too much though. Deviated too far from the books.

How can you say Mary Ingalls was "stuck up and boring." She was BLIND! She had many challenges in her life, including re-learning everything she knew because she became blind after an illness. Not only that, but she rose abouve her challenges and became a teacher to other blind children. I'm disgusted that you'd say that about her. You should be honored that people compared you to her.

Oh, uh right. Sorry. I meant before she turned blind. I was thinking when she was a little kid, like I was at the time.

You're totally right -she became a much more sympathetic character after her blindness.
