Sunshine and Roses
I took Monday's post down, in case you were wondering, because some anonymous commenter said it was irresponsible to my teen readers to admit to feeling down in a blog. I don't want to be a bad influence so I'm sorry. I was just having a lousy day and really didn't feel like chatting about sunshine and roses.
But now it's Tuesday and it's sunshiny out and ohhh - I have a new book called "What, No Roses?" out in stores in less than two weeks! Woot!! So there we go!!!
BTW if you're one of my MySpace friends, I'm running a special contest til the end of June. Post a comment about what you liked about "Boys that Bite" and on June 30th I'll draw from all the commenters and pick three people to name characters after in book 3 - Girls that Growl. :) Check out MySpace Boys that Bite for more details!
That's all for now! I'll be posting lesson #1 on buzzing your book over at Romance Divas in a little bit - so make sure you stop by.

Gee, don't you think that maybe teens would be happy to know that an author they admire has the same feelings THEY have sometimes? That the author understands what it's like to be down and feeling grumpy? I think that an always sunshine and roses attitude (especially if it's forced so as not to ever appear to be down) comes off as fake, and teens are the first to pick up on fakers. Trust me, the mother of a teen, on that one! :-)

I agree with Shannon!
I write YA and I sometimes have bad days and yeah, sometimes I complain about them. That doesn't make me a bad influence. That makes me human.
Thanks guys! And I agree. The post wasn't OMG I'm off to slit my wrists. It was wow I'm down and I can't seem to shake the blues. But two drive-by people wrote that I should go get medicated and one called me "pathetic." Ouch. I just decided it was better to remove the post and the comments all together.
Oh and happy to report the check mixup at Berkley (that I was bemoaning in the deleted post) has finally been cleared up so I should get $$ soon. Yay!
Yeah, for fixing the checks! And, boo for the drive-bys. I think that's the point. They were just drive-bys and NOT people who really care. Of course, MY whiny post was last Friday. Thankfully, no one told me I should have been cheerful, or I'd have had to smack them. :-)

Yea, drive-bys are weird, huh? Like one of the guys who posted that I needed medication was like computer guy - and he's like "Do you think this kind of post will help you sell books?" Um, if this blog were just a promotional tool to sell books I'd be doing a lot more BUY MY BOOK instead of "Ooh, check out my trip to Vegas pics." I see this blog as my online diary. It's for people who want to know what's up with me. I add plenty of book stuff because books are a part of my life, but I see this as way more than just some promotional tool to pimp out my books, you know?
Anyway - thanks for the support and encouragement. Next time I feel down or annoyed I won't be afraid to post it. :)
